Celebrating the life of

Ronald Crawford, Sr.

July 28, 1940 - July 19, 2016

Ronald Crawford, Sr.

Ronald Craig Crawford, Esquire, 75, passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, July 19, 2016. Ron was born in Savannah on July 28th, 1940. He attended Savannah High School, Mercer University and the University of Georgia. He loved to travel, especially on his boat and later a motor home. Most of all, he loved Savannah and his many good friends here.

His church and church family at St Thomas Episcopal Church on Isle of Hope were very dear to him. In years past, he had served on vestry and sung in the choir.

Ron practiced law for 44 years. He served as President of the Young Lawyers Association. He was admitted to the Superior Court of Chatham County, the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Supreme Court of the State of Georgia. His office staff has continued to stay in touch and were very dear to him.

He was a member of numerous civic organizations, served as a volunteer at the Mighty 8th Museum, served as Treasurer of the first Board of Directors at The Landings and enjoyed golf with the Senior Blitz at Bacon Park. He never missed Wednesday morning coffee at Cutters's Point with his friends from St Thomas.

He is survived by the love of his life, Gayle, two sons, Ronald Craig Crawford, Jr., Kerry Scott Crawford, and daughter-in-law, Terri Crawford. He considered himself greatly blessed to have three grandsons, Austin, Chase and Andrew. Then finally a beautiful granddaughter, Hannah. He leaves behind two very sad and confused little dachshunds, Harley and Lucy.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 22nd at eleven a.m. at St Thomas Episcopal Church, Two St. Thomas Avenue, Isle of Hope, Savannah, GA. Interment will be in the Memorial Garden. There will be a reception at the parish hall following the ceremony to greet the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Thomas Church or St. Joseph Hospital would be appreciated.

Gayle and family, I am so sorry to hear that Ron has died. My last memories of him happened only a week ago when I stopped by to pick up Harley and Lucy's dog food. I am so glad I was able to sit on the porch with both Gayle and Ron for a bit that day. My prayers are with the family.

Gayle , My heart breaks for you and for Ronnie. In my experience, loosing my Ray, there is nothing that can be said or done that will ease this time. The best you can do is get through it your own way. What ever you need to do or not do...is exactly what should happen. You have been such a beautiful and loving wife, mother and friend. Ronnie was a lucky man to have you all of these years...to share this life, all the ups and downs that every life has, you did together. I am so, so, so sorry this has happened. Deborah Schonbak
